RCNI will be releasing the National Rape Crisis Statistics 2006 on Thursday the 13th of December

Rape Crisis Network Ireland (RCNI) will be releasing the National Rape Crisis Statistics 2006 on Thursday the 13th of December.


Key new findings of this report are that
1. A child sexually abused within the family continues to experience a particularly high risk of sexual violence and isolation into adulthood.
2. the responses of people and professionals in society are very important in addressing the impact of sexual violence.

• We can facilitate pre-recording for television and radio if helpful.
• Press release and Pdf of the report will be distributed the evening of the 12th. Hard copies will also be distributed and the report will be accessible on our website www.rcni.ie under publications.


Notes:
The RCNI is the national forum of Rape Crisis Centres, which provides a strong voice for survivors and is a catalyst for social change to end rape and all forms of sexual violence.
National Rape Crisis Statistics 2006 was written by Dr Maureen Lyons (UCD) who analysed detailed data collected by the 14 participating Rape Crisis Centres regarding their face-to-face clients.
